Meatloaf
MeatLoaf
Our family’s favorite meatloaf is straight from our old, well-used and well-loved Fannie Farmer Cookbook. We’ve made this recipe so many times we don’t even have to look up the page, because the book falls right open to it!
Ingredients:
2 cups bread crumbs (the original recipe calls for freshly made, but we always just use panko bread crumbs)
1 onion, finely chopped
2 eggs
2 pounds ground beef
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
3/4 cup milk
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl. Best way to mix it is with your hands! (Yes, the Fannie Farmer recipe even says this.) Pat it into a greased pan. The recipe says to use a loaf pan, but we prefer just shaping the meat into a loaf shape in a small baking pan. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf is 160 degrees. Enjoy!
